ATA Robotics Team Generates Wins in Their First HS Competition

As the only middle school team competing against 31 high school teams across central Texas, 71458A made it into the semifinals by beating the top seed in the second round of elimination. Along the way, they scored 71 points in skills competition to claim the #1 ranking for middle school teams in central Texas. The results earned the team an invitation to the VEX Regional Championships to be held on February 28 in Austin, where the club will be defending their third consecutive regional championship. 

71458A also won the Inspire Award, presented to the team that has inspired judges with their approach to the VEX Robotics program. This team effectively communicates their passion for the VRC program and maintains a positive attitude throughout the event. Receiving this award exemplifies our club standards, “competing at the highest level while maintaining the upmost respect and sportsmanship”.

71458B made it into the elimination round before losing a competitive battle against the #2 seed. The team won the Innovate Award, presented to the team that has demonstrated a strong combination of ingenuity and innovation in designing their VEX robot. This award typically recognizes a specific, unique piece of engineering that exemplifies thinking outside of the box and innovative engineering design.

The team learned a lot in this competition and will make the necessary adjustments to prepare for the next one. Congratulations to all our students for their accomplishments!
